4 Weeks Left?!!!
Wow! It's pretty hard to believe that there is less than 4 weeks left in the 2009-2010 school year! As we approach these final weeks, I am reminding students the importance of being responsible, remaining focused, and finishing strong! Please remind your students of the same as well. Some of us are feeling the need to relax, but it's not time for that just yet!
Please be on the lookout for dates of upcoming events coming home...the end of the year is a busy time. Upcoming events include field day (this Friday), awards ceremony, end-of-year party (last day of school), and economics fair.
Let's work hard to finish the year out STRONG by doing our personal best!

I just wanted to remind families that tomorrow, 3/36, we will be having the 3rd quarter honor roll assembly at 9:30. Students that made A or AB honor roll will be honored!
Also, we will have the Texas Public Schools Week Picnic on 3/36 as well. If you would like to join us, bring your towels or blankets and a lunch. This will take place outside at our regular lunch time (11:30-12:00). Remember, you must have a picture ID to present to the office to join us.
Hope to see you there!!! :)

I also wanted to share that we are having a great time learning about different ecosystems. Tomorrow the students will each be presenting key concepts for an ecosystem they have been studying with a group.
I hope to have students posting knowledge they have acquired to our blog soon!
Have a wonderful evening! :)

Welcome, Mr. Murray!!!
Dear BISD,
Our third grade class would like to welcome Mr. Murray to our school district. We are very excited to have him visit our campus at CCE. Lauren says that today is his lucky day because it is snowing outside. We rarely ever see snow here in Bastrop. We think he will like it here in Bastrop because it is a great community and we have wonderful schools. We recommend that he visit Chestnut Square because you can bowl, see movies, play games, or even play miniature golf. Jakob says that Mr. Murray could take his children, if he has any to play at the many playgrounds in our community. We hope he has a great time on our campus and in our district. We also hope that he likes all of us and visiting our campuses! We look forward to meeting him!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Gardner's Third Grade Students

Hello families! I just wanted to touch base with you all! I cannot believe how quickly this school year continues to pass us by! To bring you all up to date, just last week an interim principal, Dr. Duran began on our campus. She will be with us until the end of the school year. We are delighted to have her!
I wanted to make you aware that we are having a slight problem with homework lately for many. Work with your child to create a structure/schedule to ensure homework is done nightly. I encourage you to allow your child to read to you during part of their nightly reading. Ask them questions as well as their predictions as they read. Also, remember that flash cards should be coming home nightly. It is important that they are LEARNING their facts.
As always, thank you for your participation in your child's education. Feel free to contact me if needed! Have a wonderful evening!

Book Talk...
I would like for you to share with us about the chapter book you are currently reading. Please let us know the title of your book and the author. As you discuss your book, tell us who the main character is and what kind of character they are. Are they nice, curious, compassionate, mean, easy going?... Maybe give us an event from your story that proves your statement. Also, describe the setting of your book and the problem your main character is dealing with. Finally, share with us your predictions for the solution/ending for the book.
Happy sharing!!! I can't wait to see your comments!
